Where it was.

Silverton is situated in Far West N.S.W. 25 Kilometres North-West of Broken Hill. Access is via a sealed road.

About Silverton

Silverton was once a thriving mining community with a population of  more than 3000, the Town got its name from the silver that was once mined there it is now a ghost town. Silverton has become a Mecca for the film industry. Among those filmed or part filmed here include; A Town Like Alice, Mad Max 2, Priscilla, Royal Flying Doctor Service Series. The latest movie made out here was Dirty Deeds starring John Goodman, Bryan Brown and Tony Collette amongst others. While they were here making that movie though Mum and I spent a few nights with them, which was a lot of fun. Mum got pretty cozy with Tony Collette but it was Bryan Brown I caught her kissing. I even beat Bryan Brown at darts but he was a real sport about it. Apart from the movies that were made here there have been many commercials and documentaries. And they are being made quite regularly, so you never know who you might meet while you are here.

Who was there

I had a great time at Silverton, but I knew I would. Thanks to all those who made it such a wonderful weekend. I can't wait until the next one. With Jenny coming to this Family reunion it is quite evident that it is the 5 sisters. I had not seen Aunty Jenny for more than 20 years and it has also been about that long since the 5 sisters have all been together. There was a really good turnout for this reunion especially since some of you had so far to travel. But if you missed it you missed a great weekend please don't miss the next one.

What we did.

As long as I can remember every time any of the sisters got together, it would end up in a family sing along. So it only seemed natural that Karaoke should be a big hit at the Silverton family reunion. Everyone who was there had a go at strutting their stuff, and it seems we have alot of talent in our family. The five sisters entertained us with their great singing, that i'm sure has come from years of practicing. But as always the kids stole the show.

As usual the games were enjoyed by everyone and some family members showed the others how it should be done. There's no two ways about it, we have some real athletic talent in our family as well. The South Australian side of the family hit a crushing blow in the cricket when they proved that the Broken hill win at Pichi Richi was just a fluke when they took back the trophy in a convincing win. Although there was bit of confusion when a protest was put in by Bob. This was decided in a kangaroo court by the right honorable Judge Rollster he found in favour of the South Australian team. And they regained their trophy. What with all the games, dancing and singing we all had lots of fun!

But the highlight for me was the birth of my grandson Mason on the last day.
